An independently operated 4 venue complex situated on Oxford Road in Manchester.
These seminal venues are the most established in Manchester with The Academy itself now entering it's 25th year and some of it’s sister venues in the Students Union next door dating dating back to the 50’s.
The Academy is intrinsically woven into the fabric of Manchester’s Musical history and has a special place in the hearts of the cities' gig goers. Over the decades anyone who’s anyone has performed here from Amy Winehouse to Arctic Monkeys, Prince to the Prodigy and The Beastie Boys to the The Kings of Leon. During the Brit-pop years Oasis and Blur both shared this hallowed stage.
Manchester Academy 2,3 and Club Academy have had more than their fair share of history too. Housed in the Students Union building, opened by Prime Minister Harold MacMillan in 1957, and with Malcolm X gracing the stage of Academy 2 (formally Main Debating Hall) in 1964, there is no shortage of big names associated with this side of our complex. The MDH grew to become one of Manchester's premier live venues and it was later joined by The Hope and Grape (now Academy 3) and our most recent addition Club Academy. Together they have hosted literally thousands of gigs over the last 50 years from the newest emerging talent to some of the biggest artists on earth.
